Coroner: Investigators haven't yet ID'd body found in Aurora field last week

AURORA | Investigators have not yet positively identified a body found last week near South Chambers Road and East Yale Avenue, the Arapahoe County coroner’s office said Monday.

An Aurora police spokesman said Monday that detectives with the department’s major crime unit continued to investigate the case as a homicide, standard practice in suspicious death cases.

Investigators found the body after dark Thursday and guarded the crime scene all night before gatheri8ng additional evidence in the area Friday, police said.

Police have called the death “suspicious,” but have not said how the person may have died. Police have also not said what gender the body is or how long it may have been there.

Aurora police did confirm, however, that the body is not that of 19-year-old Kenia Monge, who disappeared from a Denver night club April 1. Channel 7 reported over the weekend that Denver investigators broadened their search for the missing Aurora woman to include an area near a Weld County landfill.
