AdCo sheriff: Teen rammed deputies

AURORA | A 19-year-old driver and a 24-year-old Aurora woman are in custody after the Adams County sheriff’s office said the teen tried to ram deputies and led them on a chase early Tuesday morning.

The incident started when deputies tried to stop a “suspicions vehicle” around 1 a.m. near East 73rd Avenue and Pecos Street in unincorporated Adams County.

The driver, later identified as Alejandro Jaimez, 19, of Denver, sped away from deputies after the stop, revving his engine and speeding in reverse toward several deputies, according to a statement from the Adams County sheriff’s office.

Jaimez then rammed a marked patrol car before speeding onto eastbound Highway 36.

The statement said he lost control, slamming into a retaining wall at the Interstate 25 interchange.

When deputies finally stopped him, Jaimez resisted arrest, the statement said, and deputies had to use a K-9 to subdue him.

Jaimez was taken to an area hospital for treatment before being booked into Adams County Jail on charges of first degree assault, false reporting and vehicular eluding. He is also being held on several warrants, including one for a parole violation.

Deputies also arrested Sylvia Sandoval, 24, of Aurora, who was in the car when police initially stopped it but not during the chase, on charges of possession of a controlled substance and on a warrant for theft.
