**UPDATE** Hinkley lockdown lifted

AURORA | A lockdown at Hinkley High School was lifted Tuesday afternoon, though police said the search for a domestic violence suspect, which led to the lockdown, continued Tuesday evening.

An Aurora police spokeswoman said the incident involved an armed man in the 1700 block of Blackhawk Street who assaulted a woman. Officers had spoken to the man on the phone Tuesday but had not yet been able to find him.

The incident started around noon and police said SWAT officers were called out around 1 p.m.

The incident on Blackhawk happened more than a mile from Hinkley, but Aurora police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson said officials put the school on lockdown Tuesday afternoon because busses from Hinkley would be dropping students off near the scene. Students walking home from school would also be walking into the area, she said.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether other schools were on lockdown as well or when the lockdown would end.

As of 5 p.m. the lockdown had been lifted but police said they had not found the man, whose name and description was not released.
