Man faces felony child abuse charge

Adain Torres

AURORA | A 32-year-old Aurora man is facing a felony child abuse charge after police say his girlfriend’s daughter was seriously injured late last week.

Adain Torres is currently being held in the Arapahoe County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond on a charge of felony child abuse causing serious bodily injury.

Police said they responded to The Children’s Hospital on Friday on a report of a toddler who may have been abused. The girl, whose name and age were not released, had been taken to the hospital the night before.

Investigators don’t believe the girl’s injuries are life-threatening, police said, though they are considered serious.

It wasn’t clear Monday whether the girl remained hospitalized.

During their investigation, detectives searched the girl’s home on East Ohio Avenue and arrested Torres, the boyfriend of the girl’s mother.

Torres was also arrested on three separate warrants for failing to appear in court, including one for a domestic violence charge out of Arapahoe County.

According to jail records, Torres is due in court Thursday on the child abuse charge.
