Women cited for bizarre Monday crash

AURORA | A woman who crashed a car through the wall of a home Monday — a bizarre crash caught on video by the home’s surveillance system — was cited for careless driving, police said Wednesday.

Nga Bui, 58, was cited after the Monday afternoon crash at the corner of Ursula Street and Baranmoor Parkway, police said.

The owners of the home, Ross and Kathrin Getchell, have seen several crashes at that intersection before Monday, but this crash was the oddest and the first time a driver crashed into their home.

The Getchell’s video shows Bui driving a Subaru wagon north on Ursula and stopping at the yield sign to make a right turn onto eastbound Baranmoor. After she made the turn, she kept turning right and accelerated, slamming into the north side of the Getchell home. The car ended up inside the Getchell’s bedroom and left a gaping hole in their brick wall.

Nobody was hurt in the crash and the Getchells weren’t sure this week how expensive the repairs will be.
