City jail inmate dies

AURORA | An inmate at the Aurora City Jail died early Monday morning, according to a statement from the city. 

Jeffon Shaw was found unresponsive in his cell around 3 a.m. Monday and later died at an area hospital. 

According to a statement from the city, Shaw had been at the jail since his arrest on two warrants Saturday.

Man dies after being transported to hospital from Aurora detention center

AURORA, Colo.–On Saturday, April 2 at about 11 p.m., Jeffon Shaw was arrested on two warrants and brought to the Aurora Detention Center without incident.
On Monday, April 4 at about 2:55 a.m. Detention Center staff noticed that Shaw appeared unresponsive in his cell. Staff responded to his cell and administered CPR and used a defibrillator until emergency services arrived. Shaw was transported to a local hospital where he later died of undetermined causes. The cause of death will be determined by the Arapahoe County coroner.
“We are always concerned for those in our custody and are saddened by Mr. Shaw’s death,” stated Dr. Zelda DeBoyes, Court Administrator and Detention Center Director. “This is a serious matter and a thorough investigation into Mr. Shaw’s death is underway.”
