AURORA | A new trial date for a man accused of killing a north Aurora tattoo artist in 2008 has not yet been scheduled, according to court records.
Marquise Irvin, 26, was scheduled to go on trial starting March 7 on charges he killed Oscar Mendez in late 2008 at an apartment near East 13th Avenue and Chambers Road.
But according to court records, a judge delayed the trial a few days before it was scheduled to start because some of scheduling issues with some witnesses
Irvin was scheduled to appear in court for a setting hearing this week, at which a new trial date was expected. But, according to court records, a new date has not yet been scheduled. Irvin is scheduled to appear in court again in June, records said.
Irvin’s trial was previously scheduled for October 2010, but a judge delayed it until March.
Three other people charged in connection with Mendez’s death have already pleaded guilty to lesser charges and were released from jail.
