AURORA | The Aurora police officer who shot an armed suspect Thursday night was working undercover and not in uniform, police said Friday.
Police said the officer was in the 1400 block of Macon around 8:30 p.m. conducting an undercover narcotics investigation involving several officers.
At one point, the officer relayed to other police that the drug suspect was armed with a gun and approaching him. The officer then shot the man, who died at the scene.
Police have not released the name of the officer or the man who was killed.
The officer who fired his weapon is on administrative while the case is investigated, as is standard policy.
The spokeswoman said police may release more details later today, including the dead man’s name.
