Prelims Friday in kidnapping case

AURORA | Preliminary hearings are scheduled early Friday morning for three teenagers accused of kidnapping two people in Aurora last fall.

The teens — Jaime Baca, 19, Edgar Alonso Montelongo, 18, and Mariano Rosales, 17 — are scheduled to appear in Adams County Court at 8 a.m. for the hearings, at which a judge is expected to rule whether there is enough evidence for them to stand trial.

Police and prosecutors have said little about the case since the three were arrested in November. The arrest affidavits, which detail much of the evidence against the three, have been sealed.

That means Friday's hearing, if it goes forward, will likely be the first time police and prosecutors talk about the evidence in open court.

Here is a link to a previous story on the case.

I hope to be in the courtroom for this and will post updates here and on the twitter feed throughout the morning.
