AURORA | Emergency crews had to pull two people from a mangled Subaru after a two-car crash Thursday morning at East 40th Avenue and Airport Boulevard.
The crash happened around 8:15 at the intersection in far northeast Aurora.
Police said a minivan headed east on 40th Avenue ran the red light and a northbound Subaru Legacy slammed into it.
Police said the driver of the legacy, Marcello Gonzalez, broke their lower leg in the crash and his passenger, Maria Gonzalez, suffered a cervical spinal fracture.
The driver of the van, Mary Delarosa, 31, of Denver, was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Police said she will be arrested on charges of careless driving resulting in serious bodily injury, failure to provide proof of insurance and driving without a license.
Delarosa’s immigration status is being checked withfederal officials, police said.
The sun glare in the mornings at that intersection often makes it hard for eastbound drivers to see, police said, and may have played a role in the crash.
